Walking Friends Volunteers

Volunteers needed!

Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire are working in partnership with Active Herefordshire & Worcestershire to deliver a new service aimed at reducing loneliness through their new service, Walking Friends.

The new service will see volunteers supporting older people who may be feeling lonely or isolated through regular walks around their local area. Regular exercise is important especially during later life to look after our physical and mental wellbeing. Walking friends is a great way for older people to stay active, walks can be short or longer to accommodate the needs of older people.

Caroline Savage, Social inclusion & wellbeing manager for Age UK H&W said: “We are really looking forward to delivering this much needed service throughout Herefordshire and Worcestershire. According to Age UK National 1.9 million older people often feel ignored or invisible, so we hope that through this service we can combine combating loneliness and keep older people active.”

Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire are looking for volunteers that would be interested in supporting the Walking Friends service. All volunteering can be done in your local area and volunteers will receive suitable training from Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire.
