Walking keeps our bodies and minds healthy, giving us a break from the stresses of daily life and the space to gather our thoughts.

Getting started

The Ramblers Association in Ross-on-Wye have put together details of these six walks around the town for anyone looking to take the first steps towards regular walking. You might like to ask someone you know to walk with you, to add some chat and support. Click on the links below to view and download the details of each walk.

Health Walks

All are welcome to join Walking for Health Walks, starting at 10am by the Ross Swimming Pool each Thursday. This one hour walk at a gentle pace usually finished with a coffee and chat in a cafe.

Further steps

Ross Ramblers organise walks of 4-5 miles on Tuesdays, and longer walks at weekends, along some of our beautiful area’s most scenic and interesting paths and lanes. The first three walks are free, after which the you will be asked to pay a modest annual fee. See Ross Ramblers Facebook page for details.

Ross & District Walking Group runs a varied 3-10 mile walk programme, starting usually from Ross Sports Centre, near Wilton. The group always stops for a coffee break and a picnic or pub lunch. The size of individual groups varies but is usually 8 to 20 walkers. See their website for details.

Walking Festival

This takes place in September each year with a range of walks for all levels of ability and fitness, led by experienced local leaders. The next festival runs 23 to 25 September 2022. See the festival website for details.
